Christie’s generated sales of $13,424,431 from its sale of Important Jewels in London. The auction was 77 percent sold by lot and 90 percent by value.
The top-selling item was a three-row natural pearl necklace which was bought for $1,636,909.
Meanwhile, a diamond and natural pearl brooch sold for £433,875 ($675,000) compared with a pre-sale estimate of £25,000-£35,000 ($39,000-$54,000).
Keith Penton, Head of the London Jewellery Department, said: “These results illustrate the continued strength in the market for natural pearls. This London sale concludes an extremely successful spring season for jewels at Christie’s.”
